Life outside of her house was a new experience for Della Sloane. The dark secrets of her past weren’t something she ever intended to share with anyone. They would never understand. No one would ever get close enough to find out. There was always a chance she’d go crazy sooner than they expected…
Woods Kerrington had never been one to be attracted to fragile females. They seemed like too much work. He wasn’t in it for the work just the pleasure. A night full of naughty fun had been exactly what was on his mind when he’d laid eyes on the hot little number that didn’t know how to pump gas and needed some help.
What he didn’t know was she was as fragile as they came.
The carefree girl who spoke her mind and didn’t care what the world thought of her was more breakable than he could ever imagine…
I know there are many lovers of Rush and I get it. I really get it. But for me it’s Woods.
Okay, so maybe I have a few more words. I fell head over heels for Woods in Fallen Too Far and even further in Never Too Far. I was so happy to hear he was getting to have his story told. As much as I loved Rush I would have been just fine with Blaire and Woods getting together. I even hoped for a while that they would.
But then Abbi gave us Della.
Della…wow…she’s so sweet…so innocent…so naive. I won’t say she’s broken because I don’t believe she is. There are things from her past that cause some deep seated fears that are totally understandable. The way she grew up was really hard to imagine. The reasons for her leaving that home she lived was horrific. Her journey afterward was one of self discovery but it also contained a lot of fear.
I thought they best thing that could have happened to Della was her meeting Woods. He had no clue just how life changing that meeting would be. I don’t think Della knew either. They also never expected to see each other again.
I think Della and Woods are my two favorite characters of Abbi Glines. She did an amazing job with both of them. I felt like I was right there living those moments with them. I understood Della and why she behaved the way she did and I understood Woods and his need to protect her. I was worried with them, scared with them, turned on with them (yes I went there lol). I was reading as fast as I could just to see where this story was taking them.
Woods family sigh….his family is something else. I was shocked by the behavior and appalled at the lengths they went to keep Della and Woods apart.
I thought I couldn’t love that bad boy Woods anymore but I do. I loved the fierceness of his feelings for Della. There was no hesitation with him. He may not have had the words to express his feelings but his actions certainly spoke volumes.
I totally think there is more to Della’s story. I think there are some secrets yet to be discovered where her past is concerned and I can’t wait to see what connections they will have with occupants of Rosemary!
This book was so good for me that I won’t even complain that I have to wait for book 2.
