Claire Nichols endured the CONSEQUENCES of Anthony Rawlings’ vendetta.
When she first arrived to his home, her goal was survival. Through strength and compartmentalization Claire captivated her captor. Her resilience in the face of his rule threatened Anthony’s well developed plan. Domination became desire and power turned to love.
Their passion and adoration in a world of opulence appeared perfect. Yet, reality was a roller coaster of emotion. Claire’s world teetered on the edge of sanity as Antony monitored her every move. When given the opportunity to flee, Claire drove away. A fateful decision which set a well laid plan into motion.
However, unbeknownst to either of them, there were others who saw past the perfect facade of Anthony Rawlings. There were others who saw the TRUTH. Conspiracy and unfulfilled promises result in an early prison release for Claire. Not just a release – a pardon. According to the law, her crime never happened!
Will it be that easy? Faced with freedom from her past... can Claire seize it? Can she build a new life, mend her broken spirit, become the woman she once was, and seek her own revenge? Or is it all a game? And does the game master have different plans?
How does Sophia Burke fit into the puzzle that is Tony and Claire? Will her presence affect the future of this well esteemed man? Can he dominate twice? Is that his goal?
TRUTH continues the tumultuous saga of CONSEQUENCES, introduces new players, and uncovers more intrigue. Aleatha Romig skillfully weaves past transgressions through current deception to create a fervent world of obsessed desire. In this reality can an all-consuming relationship survive?
When buried sins are discovered they threaten not only Tony and Claire’s future -- but their very lives! Will the TRUTH be revealed in time?
Ok so I’ve had a little bit of time to digest what just happened to me. Reading Truth wasn’t an adventure it was a freaking never-ending roller coaster. I swear I was on a continual loop of the same part of the ride. You know what part? Where you’re ascending to the top and you know the drop is going to be scary and exhilarating and you’re terrified and excited all at once? But then the ride drops and it loops and you’re upside down screaming. Well yea that part over and over and over again.
I tweeted earlier tonight that my husband laughed at me when I told him I needed therapy after finishing this book. I’m pretty sure I have Stockholm Syndrome. He just laughed at me. I’m totally serious….
I won’t talk about what happens in this book because you’ve read Consequences and if you’re reading this review you’re already planning to read Truth or maybe you’ve already read it. You really have to experience it for yourself. You think you Aleatha can’t shock you anymore? Hahahahaha…..
So what we know about Tony so far is that he’s dangerous, he’s ruthless, he’s a monster. He’s also confusing, he can be kind and loving. He can even be tender. But can he change? Does he really care for Claire?
A lot of things change in this book. Some of which is good and some of which is bad. There are a lot of revelations and yet still a lot of secrets.
At the end of Consequences I hated Tony.
No I loathed Tony.
GAH I don’t think there is a strong enough word for what I
felt no feel for that man. I wanted him to suffer. I wanted him to lose everything and suffer a thousand deaths for what he put Claire through.
Tony belongs in jail. Lock him up and throw away the key for what he did to Claire.
“Love and hate are very close emotions. Both intense and consuming”
“Could it be possible to hate and love someone too?“
I continued to hate Tony too all through Truth too. I refused to be #TeamTony.
Until about 70% into it.
Yep that’s right I hate myself right now. I want to punch myself in the face because I’m so mad that I’m on his side now.
You get so much more back story in Truth and I’m positive you too will start to see things differently. It will piss you off too just like it did me. Ugh I was so #TeamHarry. I still want to be #TeamHarry dammit! You see Harry was the opposite of Tony. He was everything Claire should have. Everything Claire needed. Everything Tony was not. Claire deserved Harry if only Tony would leave her alone.
Tony doesn’t leave her alone though.
Through a series of events Tony begins to change. You will start to see him as a man with insecurities who is looking for redemption. Can a monster be redeemed? His actions will have you questioning that. You will start to see his actions differently. Maybe that comes with knowing more about why is they way he is. What lead him to that point of no return is explained.
I totally blame Aleatha Romig for all of this. I’m sure she’s somewhere right now happy(probably sleeping) while I’m sitting here hating myself for my new found feelings for Tony. All the while my husband sits over there (I can see him) shaking his head and laughing at me while I type this muttering to myself and cursing Tony.
So is there a cliffhanger? Pretty much yes. There is definitely a lot more of this story to come. Convicted is due out in October and I definitely can’t wait!
