At first glance I probably seem like any good-looking guy in their late twenties. I have an obscene amount of confidence, a tattooed body sculpted by the Nordic gods, and I love the ladies as much as they love me.

If I’m not BASE jumping or car racing, I’m chasing other devious thrills with the woman of the week. And that’s fine if you’re the average single guy.
But I'm not the average single guy.

I’m Crown Prince Magnus of Norway and my latest scandal just landed my entire royal family in hot water.

Now the only way the monarchy can save face is for me to smarten up – publicly. If I don’t, I’ll no longer be heir apparent to the throne. So it’s either I abdicate my future role as King or…
I get married.
To a blue-blooded stranger.

Enter Princess Isabella of the tiny country of Liechtenstein.

Quiet, intelligent, and uniquely beautiful, Ella doesn’t like this arrangement any more than I do and she’s not afraid to show it. She says I’m a womanizer, that I don’t take anything seriously, that my ego should be taken down a few pegs, and I think she aims to make me miserable for the rest of my life.

But even as our arranged marriage becomes a war of wit and words, I’m determined to break through Ella’s prim and proper façade to find the wild, sexual and risk-taking woman underneath. I want to uncover the Queen inside her.

The only question is – will she let me?

Royal romances right now are hot.  They drive me crazy in the most delicious way.  I can’t get enough, and lately there are an abundance of them being written.  However, not all of them can stand up to the writing of Karina Halle.  Her storytelling is magic….it knows no bounds.  I’m convinced she’s a witch and has casted a spell over all of us.  How else can she be so proficient in writing across different genres, doing it exceedingly well?  She’s an enigma.

Listen, the cover had me at go.  If I could ever write a review about a book solely based on the cover, this one would be number 1…5 stars…every day. Then she went and named this magnificent beast of a man, Magnus. Magnus.  *sigh* My inner 25 year old swoons hard, while my actual 40 something self has a hot flash.  Needless to say, I went into this story expecting an awful lot.  I mean look at those tattoos on a Prince for crying out loud.  One could only hope that Harry was hiding some amazing ink.

Does the content reflect the high bar set by the cover?  Well duh, of course it does.  Magnus lives up to his image.  He’s a bad boy, born with a silver spoon in his mouth, adrenaline junkie, with not a care in the world.  Until he has to care.  Man do I love these prince’s who are so lost with the weight of the world on their shoulders.  Literal kingdoms weigh heavy on their minds.  Yet they don’t know their own inner strength.  And there’s something refreshing in knowing that the only thing that draws out their greatness and shows them how good and true and worth they already are, are indeed strong, resilient women.

I can’t say I’ve ever thought “arranged marriages work” nor can I say that I would agree to an arranged marriage.  I’m also never one to say a woman needs a man.  However the right partners do bring out the best in each other.  Princess Isabella is that person for Magnus and vice versa.  She may not know it.  He definitely doesn’t know it. Heck marriage is far, far from either of their radar.  She’s the opposite of everything Magnus looks for and she cannot stand him.  LOL she really doesn’t like him at all. At times I almost felt bad for him.  She was aloof and cold on the outside, while battling her attraction on the inside.  That woman, drove ME nuts.  I can’t say I blame her.  His reputation is definitely not good. Nevertheless she was fun to read, as frustrating as her interactions with Magnus were at times.

Karina’s characters are often flawed, resilient, passionate, and strong willed.  I almost always love them.  Magnus and Isabella were no different, their journey while unconventional, was exceptional to read.
