The author of I See London sets her sights on Washington, D. C., with a sexy new series about three sisters, the secrets they keep, and a powerful blog with a knack for exposing scandals...

Jackie Gardner knows all about dirty little secrets. The illegitimate daughter of one of the most influential senators in Washington, D.C., she grew up surrounded by the scandals and shadows of politics. Now that she's landed an internship with a powerful political consulting firm, she's determined to launch her career and take this city by storm.

William Andrew Clayton was born for politics. He knows the drill: work hard, play discreetly, and at all costs, avoid scandal. At twenty-six, his campaign for the Virginia State Senate is the first step to cementing his future. It's time for him to settle down, to find the perfect political spouse. He needs a Jackie Kennedy, not a Marilyn...

When Jackie meets Will in the bar of the Hay-Adams Hotel, sparks fly. But the last thing Will needs is to be caught in a compromising position, and an affair with a political candidate could cost Jackie her career. When what began as one steamy night, becomes a passion neither one of them can walk way from, they must decide if what they have is really love, or just another dirty little secret...

Adrienne's Review v2

Sexual tension, a sexy politician, a fiercely independent heroine, add a big splash of scandal, and you have a seriously good book!  Flirting with Scandal by Chanel Cleeton is my breakthrough hit of the year!  I couldn’t put it down, it’s complex, witty, it’s provocative.
Living just outside of D.C. made this so much more enjoyable for me.  I could absolutely relate to the surroundings as well as the political feel of living in the nations capital.  This area is most definitely unique and I think that Ms. Cleeton captures the essence of the area perfectly.  This country is often riddled with political scandals, backhanded deals, and shady partnerships.  The author doesn’t just give us a sappy romance, she takes it to a whole other level by taking us into the seedy underbelly of those in office, trying to get elected, and those working for them.  There are defined classes and stature, a who’s who of political royalty, the silver spoon trust fund babies, and the commoners trying to break in and make real change.
Jackie finds herself on both sides of the drama and angst.  She understands the workings of D.C. firsthand, she’s a potential scandal in the making after all.  She’s grown up in politics thanks to her mother but she’s not royalty, rich or even a contender for office.  She’s chosen to  do what she knows best by seeking a career in consulting.  She’s mature, intelligent, beautiful, and she refuses to have a relationship with a politician.  Jackie makes for a really interesting character.  She’s grown up in this life to an extent.  It’s what she knows.  Her career choice makes sense, so does her ill feelings towards dating politicians.  I really liked her strong will, she wasn’t just a pretty face.  Her independence and acceptance of who she is made her even more special.  I found myself rooting for her regardless of the outcome.
If a woman’s in my bed, it’s because I want her there.  I’m not a child who gets bored with his toys after five minutes.  If the guys you’ve been with treat you like that, then you’ve been screwing around with boys.  Wouldn’t you rather fuck a man?
Will was just supposed to be a one night stand.  She didn’t know anything about him, she didn’t care to.  She was in charge of her own destiny.  But Will’s intensity throws her.  He immediately presents a dichotomy she isn’t used to.  It should have been easy.  When she realizes who he is she flees only to find herself as HIS intern.  Will really stole the show for me in this story.  He’s outspoken, mature, he’s very up front with Jackie, whether she likes it or not.  He knows what he wants and it’s her.  He’s aggressive in all the right ways.  He pushes her gently and he’s patient every time she runs.  I really love that when push comes to shove he doesn’t cower.
Either you stay the night or I take you home now.  His voice was firm.  “I’m not going to be some guy you use to get off and then leave.  I’m not going to let you turn us into that.  If we’re going to have sex, then you’re going to be there through the night when I wake up wanting you, and you’re going to be there in the morning.  Those are the terms.  Take it or leave it.
I cannot wait to read the next book in the series.  This was my first by Chanel Cleeton and I’m an instant fan!

Playlist v2

Flirting with Scandal Playlist by Chanel Cleeton

Music is a huge part of my process and when I’m working on a book I always find myself listening to the same songs over and over again. With Flirting with Scandal, I wanted a playlist that captured the chemistry between Will and Jackie and the angst of wanting someone who’s just a little bit forbidden. Here’s what I came up with 🙂

Ho Hey by The Lumineers

Take Me to Church by Hozier

fallingforyou by The 1975

Yellow by Coldplay

Everybody Talks by Neon Trees

Losing My Religion by R.E.M

From Eden by Hozier

About Chanel Cleeton

Originally a Florida girl, CHANEL CLEETON moved to London where she received a bachelor’s degree from Richmond, The American International University in London and a master’s degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Chanel fell in love with London and planned to stay there forever, until fate intervened on a Caribbean cruise and a fighter pilot with smooth dance moves swept her off her feet. Now, a happily ever after later, Chanel is living her next adventure.

Law school made Chanel realize she’d rather spend her days writing sexy stories than in a courtroom, and she hasn’t looked back since. An avid reader and hopeless romantic, she’s happiest curled up with a book. She has a weakness for handbags, her three pups, and her husband.

Chanel writes contemporary romances. She is published by Harlequin HQN, Penguin/InterMix, and Penguin/Berkley and is the author of the International School, Capital Confessions, and Wild Aces series.
