Adrienne's Review

Wanted by You by Steph Nuss is a cute romantic story about a college friends turned lovers.  I say cute because I thought it was.  It was sweet and endearing and even mushy and sappy.  But there were also elements of angst and I found myself tearing up a time or two.

For Carter it was love at first sight, his freshmen year at college when he finds Ellyson sitting outside a classroom.  Somehow they end up only being friends for the duration of college.  Carter was afraid to express his feelings to Ellyson.  Ellyson is afraid to fall in love.

Several years pass before Carter and Ellyson are reunited.

I really liked all the sub-characters.  I felt like Steph Nuss did a great job of letting us see everyone’s personality and she laid some great ground work for future books.  I sort of felt like I was reading and episode from Friends.  Everyone has a unique personality, each of them woven into their lives.  Everyone plays a part.  Even Carter’s sisters become important.

As we navigate the trials and tribulations of new relationships, certain emotions surface and the couple is faced with a strong dose of reality.  Ellyson loses her mother at a young age to cancer and she has some real and deep rooted fears of falling in love.  Carter has some baggage in the name of his mother who wants nothing but the best for her son.  She makes it pretty clear that Ellyson is not it.

It’s always refreshing to read about characters that are mature.  Carter and Ellyson love hard, fight hard, and make up hard.  Nothing really seemed too contrived between them.  Instead it all felt believable and very very sweet.
