Note from the author--This book is intended for a mature reading audience and isn't suitable for younger readers. Brash language, sexual hotness, delectable alpha males, some violence and adult situations are all over this book--you have been warned.

Fate hasn’t always been friends with Isabelle West. In fact, fate has been a downright bitch.

Isabelle has learned the hard way how hard life can be when fate isn’t by your side. It can hand you dreams on silver platters, but it can snatch them right back and hand you nightmares. One thing Isabelle knew for sure fate was consistent with was taking away everything she ever loved.

For the last two years Isabelle has been slowly clearing the clouds of her past. Happiness is finally on the horizon. She has a thriving business, great friends, and her life back. All she has to do is jump over the last hurdle…her ex-husband.

When problems start causing her to fear her new life, and memories that are better left forgotten start rushing to the surface the last thing she needs is a ghost from her past to come knocking on her door.

Axel never thought he would look into the eyes of Isabelle West again, and he wasn’t sure he wanted to now. He’s carried his anger for so long he isn’t sure he can just turn it off, but when he is faced with protecting her and an unexpected desire to have her again, life gets a little more complicated.

How will Axel and Isabelle deal when all their cards are put on the table and everything they thought was true blows up in their faces?

Adrienne's Review

Wow how I love me some HOT ALPHA MALES.

This book is full of them.  Each equally hot and all that alpha bad ass we’ve grown to love.

Harper Sloan’s writing could probably be compared to Kristen Ashley.  Huge compliment if you ask me.  But she nails it, wrapping up a crazy twisted story in a pretty red bow of testosterone ridden ex-marines!

I always categorize my sexy books as my guilty pleasure.  Mostly because I need an excuse to read erotica.  I need the break from other more serious books.  Not that this is any less serious or angsty because holy cow it is!!  Poor Izzy is married to a creep, Brandon.  Brandon likes to hit women.  He likes to tear them down and make them a shell.  He likes control and manipulation.  Oh and he’s crazy!

Axel is the ex-marine who left his sweetheart, Isabelle, behind when he joined the military.  He lost track of her and when he found her he realized she was married so he left her alone.  He had no clue what was going on behind closed doors.  But when he does clue in.  WHOA watch out.  I swear my kindle vibrated with his rage.

Don’t count Izzy down and out though.  She has an amazing support system with her bff’s Dee and Greg.  Greg who also happens to be bff’s with Axel.  Yes..just imagine that initial meeting and figuring out who knows who.  Watch out!

Izzy has rallied though and is learning to live again.  It’s not easy but some of her attitude and strength is returning.  But it’s really the compatibility between Axel and Izzy that I think brings our her true personality.  She feeds off him and vice versa.  Not in a bad way nope a good way.  Chemistry aside when it’s right it’s right.  For Izzy and Axel they don’t just have super freaking off the charts hot sex.  No, they have respect and immeasurable love for each other.  It was sweet.

Really bad stuff happens though and it’s a chance for us to see all the mean come together to protect what belongs to them.  Yes belongs to them.  We all know how these alphas operate.  If they like you then your in.  They protect what they care about.  They most definitely care about Izzy and Dee.  Of course there’s always a dark alpha.  One who’s gone rogue and you just know his story is dirty and gritty and just scary.  He doesn’t exude just the normal alpha bad ass.  Nope his is on a nuclear level.

Maddox would be that guy.

I don’t know what it is about the broken ones that I love so much.  I don’t even know what it says about me.  But I have this connection to them.  They’re always my favorite.  I’m always jumping in my seat waiting for their stories.  Maddox is no exception.  I want not I NEED to know more.  I’m not patient either!!!!  LOL

Needless to say I loved this book.  I devoured it.  I also devoured book 2, Cage.  That review is coming soon!

About Harper Sloan

Harper lives in small town Georgia just a short drive from her hometown of Peachtree City. She (and her 3 daughters) enjoy ruling the house they dubbed ‘Estrogen Ocean’, much to her husbands chagrin. Harper has a borderline unhealthy obsession with books; you can almost ALWAYS find her with her eReader attached. She enjoys bad reality TV and cheesy romantic flicks. Her favorite kind of hero–the super alpha kind!

Harper started using writing as a way to unwind when the house went to sleep at night; and with a house full of crazy it was the perfect way to just relax. It didn’t take long before a head full of very demanding alphas would stop at nothing to have their story told.
