The Man. The Mystery. The Madness.
Dex Foray has never been anyone’s fool – until he missed his chance for happiness with Perry Palomino. Broken and alone, Dex has no choice but to rise from the ashes Perry left behind and find his own path to redemption. But nothing in Dex’s life has ever come easily, especially when there’s a dark madness waiting in the wings.
Told from Dex’s POV, And With Madness Comes the Light is short story/novella that spans the time period from the end of Lying Season (Book #4) until the end of On Demon Wings (Book #5). If you were ever wondering what really happened to Dex while Perry was gone - his journey to Dex 2.0 - now is your chance.
I love Dex Foray.
That is all.
I wish I could just get away with leaving that as my review. Okay, let’s see….you’ve read all the books before this one. You know all about Dex and Perry’s tumultuous relationship or lack there of. This is novella, all from Dex’s pov and it covers the time between Lying Season and On Demon Wings.
It’s funny, I had read all of the book a while ago. I was worried I wouldn’t remember what was going on. Boy was I wrong. You get immediately sucked back into the world of Dex and Perry. You’re like “OMG I totally forgot about that!”
We get to see what happened to Dex when Perry left. I always want in Dex’s head because he’s so confusing to me and I sort of feel like Perry. I have no clue if Dex likes her or not. Sometimes he’s so sweet with her and other times an ass. I just want to shake him or smack him and then I want to hug and kiss him. Dex is so complicated and I don’t think even he knew who he was.
But then Perry leaves him and after some wallowing he begins to do some soul searching. He slowly begins to find out who Dex the man is. He becomes more sure of his feelings, specifically where Perry is concerned. And With Madness Comes the Light will really help you connect with Dex if you haven’t already. For me it was a much needed insight. I needed to bond with him on a different level. I needed to see him vulnerable. He always hides behind….well himself.
There are some defining moments in this book. There are heartbreaking moments too. I really felt his pain when certain things were revealed. Karina wrote that one particular scene perfectly. I found myself sniffling a bit. There are also some humorous moments, especially those surrounding a certain ginger douchecanoe LOL.
I’m off to read Come Alive next and I can’t wait!
